Rome greeted us with a rainy morning. After a good night's rest, breakfast and packing of the last stuff we left Rome to continue our adventure. First it took a while to cross the huge Rome itself! Then we went on the highway in the direction of Naples. It was terribly hot in our motorsuits, so during one of our stops I filled our special cooling-vests with water, and those miracle things kept us cool for the rest of the trip. But the destination wasn't Naples, it was Pompeii! We arrived at our super lovely B&B, freshened up and went to explore what the volcano has left behind on it's destructive way. We first visited a museum with some intact artifacts like fragments of walls, paintings, plastic casts of the victims, and a short film about the city. Then we went on exploring the remains of it's streets, squares and houses. Some things were destroyed almost completely with just some walls standing, some were still in good shape with colorful walls, floors and statues. We also visited the amphitheatre and a theatre, and a few more exhibitions of recovered items. It was really impressive, but unfortunately people are rebuilding Pompeii, while we think it should stay as it was. Afterwards we had a delicious pizzas for dinner and returned to our stay. Gotta get some rest before continuing our journey!
