Roadtrip 2025 Germany day 6
7 juli 2025 - Königswinter, Duitsland
- We started our morning by taking off to the center of Bonn. It was dry this time, so after quickly grabbing some breakfast we went exploring its´ streets and squares, including the house where Beethoven was born.
- When we felt like we´ve seen the most important things (Bonn´s old center isn´t that big), we took a long tram trip along and across Rheine to Königswinter.
- There we went to the visitor center of the Drachenburg castle. After buying our tickets, we waited for a tiny train to pick us up and bring us all the way up the mountain. There was a viewing point and some ruins even higher - of course, we climbed those to get the best view possible.
- Then we descended quite a steep way down through a wonderful forest-y path towards the castle. It was incredibly beautiful! We´ve explored the garden a little, finding the mammoth-trees (as the name suggests, they weren´t that hard to find) - American sequoias.
- We´ve mostly explored the inside of the castle, also because it began to pour. As the outside of it, it didn´t dissapoint - elaborate rooms, paintings on the walls and ceilings, and incredible glasswork on the windows. We took many pictures and enjoyed it a lot.
- After exploring the castle and its´ surroundings, we took the train back down the mountain and walked around Königswinter a bit. Then a tram took us back to Bonn.
- In Bonn we dined, did a last walk around, and spent some time at the LEGO store right until it closed.
- Then we returned to the hotel to rest our worn out legs. Tomorrow we journey back home!
