Roadtrip 2018 dag 10

We woke up in Minsk after a good night's rest, slowly prepared and had a nice breakfast at the hotel's restaurant. Then we looked up some information about famous things to se, researched how to get there and then headed out to the metro. It was really crowded over there! Still, we've reached our stop in no time and then soon came to what we were looking for - the Church of all Saints. There was a big, white church decorated with gold, another, a bit smaller, wooden church and a fountain where people get baptised. After taking lots of pictures of the impressive place, we took a tram to the city centrum and walked to the Victory Park, where many huge monuments for WW2 and fountains were standing. The temperature was rising fast and we seeked cooling off in shades and fountain water - when we entered the park full of trees, it was already better. We continued our road along the river, visiting the Isle of Tears, finding a fountain (a very slow one) that resembled a crying angel. Then we took a break at the Burger King, enjoying lots of cool drinks, and went on exploring the city centrum. We've finally started running into nice things that we haven't seen here before, like statues, fountains and a musical bench. We've also realized just now that we began exploring Minsk (got out of the tram) at the 0 kilometers point - a place from which all the distances in Minsk were measured! Of course, we took lots of pictures of all there things. And of course, as soon as we would start doing that, lots of people would start making pictures as well, or stare and stand in front of us, blocking our view, even if they've obviously seen the things before. As soon as Marcel would aim his camera at something, people would start running towards the thing. We start to think this might be a curse! :) So we've made a few more easy rounds around the centrum and finally took a metro back to our hotel, having a light dinner at the nearby Golden Gates restaurant and then walking back to our room. Now we'll make sure we have a good night's rest again - tomorrow we're back on the road!
