Roadtrip 2016 Great Britain dag 12

24 juli 2016 - Amesbury, Verenigd Koninkrijk

We've slept a while longer at the Nomad hostel last night, because our fellow travelers who had a room below us decided that the whole hostel needs to hear them sing and shout in the middle of the night. Fortunately after Marcel paid them a visit, it went quiet again. So after a light breakfast we were back on track, really beautiful roads leading us towards the border between Wales and England. As we passed the border, we noticed that there were no border signs for pictures to our collection! Marcel decided to take few different roads that led us quite off the main track, to cross the border few more times, but there were no signs at all. We moved on, now in England, having a break at Gloucester - exploring a huge, incredibly detailed cathedral, which also was a film site for Harry Potter's Hogwarts :) Then we had a light lunch and moved on to something really surprising - Stonehenge! After standing in a long line and having a ride with a bus, we finally saw it - circle of huge rocks in a green field, with people crowding around. We took a long walk around, taking pictures and reading about it's history, untill it was time to head back. Our hotel wasn't that far - it was in a town closest to Stonehenge, Amesbury. After a check in we had a delicious dinner at one of the town's pubs and because it was raining, went straight back to the hotel.
