Roadtrip 2022 Denemarken dag 12

Our morning consisted of quick preparings and breakfast in our little hotel room, and soon we waved Kopenhagen ´till next time. The sun was shining brightly already, promising a hot and beautiful day again. The ride went smooth, mostly through smaller roads through nature and little towns. As our goal of today, Roskilde, was very close to Kopenhagen, Marcel had planned to ride all around the Roskilde Fjord, crossing National park Skjoldungernes Land. On the way we had to brake suddenly for a crossing family of ducks, which made their way over safely (also thanks to stopping cars from another direction), and furthermore it was a calm, short ride. Eventually we reached Roskilde, and stopped there to explore an interesting attraction - the Viking ship museum! We got our tickets and went inside, a big area in the harbor where the ship replicas were, and a building inside with the remains of the originals. We followed two guided tours, one for the inside to learn about the original ships, and one for the outside, to step into one of the replicas and hear how the ships used to be made. It was lots of fun and we´ve learned a lot! We´ve also took the time to explore the area on our own and took many pictures. Afterwards we rode to our stay of today - a beautiful guesthouse outside Roskilde. We dropped our stuff off and returned back to the city, to have dinner and explore its´ centre. We visited its´ monumental church, walked though parks where we saw red squirrels running around, and ended up at a shopping street where everything is being prepared for Tour de France. We got some wonderful ice-creams there, and then slowly headed back towards the harbor where the bike was parked. Now we´re back at our peaceful stay, resting before another day of riding.
